どうやら合衆国でベストセラーになった小説が原作らしいですが、こういったテイストのものが受けるんだろうか、という感じ。向こうの映画を見てると、こういった類のものは、だいたい原作が小説で売れてるやつということが多い気がします。もしかしたら、ここでいう｢ベストセラー｣ってのは｢全米が泣いた｣と同義語なのかもしれません。
やはり、この映画で目立つのは主人公のアリソンローマンでしょう。どころなくロバートショーンレナードっぽい濃い顔つきながら可愛らしい。映画では、母親が殺人で捕まってから、色んな家を転々とするんですが、その里親ごとで服装が変わっていく。最初は露出の多い格好、次控えめでお高い格好、最後はHM入ったブラックな格好と、次々と変わっていく様子からして、明らかにコスプレの話です。それだけで満足。
大筋な話としては、実母が捕まってから色んな家に行くたびに、そこの母親に影響され（それが分かりやすく外見にも現れるてるのですが）、実母に会いに行くたび｢人に影響されずに自分で生きてけ｣みたいなことを言われる訳ですが、オチとしてはずーっと実母の影に悩まされながら生きて来たってことで、最も大きな影響があったのはあんただよ、ってことみたいです。母親としても子供だけが頼りみたいなところがあって可哀想だったりするんですが。
最後に母親から解放され、子供は自分自身で生きていくようなことを匂わせて終わるんですが、実際どのように生きていくんだろう、ってのがなかなか想像しづらいところがあります。誰からも影響されないよう生きていくってのは、母親の意思を継いでいることになるし、きっと違うんだろうなあ、とか。まあ、どうせ母親の子離れの話なんだからいいんだけど。
